Phorio
Analytics on Buildings

The better way to explore buildings

Phorio is the world's exchange platform about buildings. Here you find millions of data records on real estate, companies, regions, and photos corresponding to them. The growing Phorio community contains hundreds of researchers and is supported by thousands of companies who are involved in the design, construction, and management of buildings. Here, experts meet experts to discuss and to build something that is unique worldwide. Our community is following developments in the real estate market worldwide, adding new projects 24/7, and bringing new developments and trends to you.

Instead of providing a deep editorial context like a news site does, the focus of Phorio is to provide a lot of structured and deep technical data about every object (our so-called data backbone). That's why the goal of Phorio is to collect and maintain as much meta information as possible on every project. This meta data is necessary for scraping the Internet for building-related information such as photos, plans, news, property listings, and so on. For the reasons of automation and data consistency, Phorio has created a uniform set of more than 3,000 data standards which are applied when importing and exporting data. All standards have been translated and are commonly available in more than 40 languages. Phorio is committed to the highest quality and correctness of information and wants to make data is collects universally accessible and useful for anyone.

Phorio has been relaunched on March 30, 2017. You will see a number of functional extensions in the months to come. We will especially put a focus on implementing technical features which will allow our users to dive deeper into data and be able to better exchange information which we will also automatically scrape.

The world's #1 research site on tall buildings

Phorio is the world's database on skyscrapers and major projects and has developed international standards for measuring tall building heights and is widely recognized as "the source" for information on tall buildings with more than 160,000 listed high-rise projects alone. Phorio also maintains the World's 1000 Skyscrapers Listing. You will find no other data sharing platform with more projects and deeper coverage of data fields. But Phorio is not limited to tall buildings. Our users are constantly adding new types of buildings to the index.

Phorio is powered by a semantic data backbone for delivering high quality search results. This means the information objects in the back-end "know" their meanings and how they relate to each other. The system will be able to deliver more precise results for you. That's why Phorio is extremely powerful when it comes down to querying the platform for projects. Corporate users can use a variety of our business solutions to analyze, compare, and exchange information.

Only your own creativity is limiting the amount of possible queries. You can run queries like:

  • Office buildings in New York built after 1987;
  • Tall buildings in Europe designed by Norman Foster featuring KONE elevators;
  • Proposed skyscrapers in North America having a steel framework, balconies, and a curtain-wall facade.
  • ...

Team

Phorio is made possible by a thriving community of experts. The community consists of hundreds of independent researchers and people working for thousands of companies from building-related industries. Phorio is driven by the creativity and enthusiasm of every individual member, and we will do everything to be useful for the users.

Phorio is privately held by its original founding members and wants to benefit users like you. Phorio does not want to compete with anyone. Instead, Phorio wants to be an exchange place for anyone who needs information and likes to share data. Here you can help complete the puzzle with specific pieces of information, no matter if you are a researcher, have a passion for buildings, or work for a company in a building-related industry. And you can use tools to exchange data.
